SAN DIEGO, Feb 13, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced it will preview the Ovation MCU 2000, its second generation 3G Multimedia Application Console, during 3GSM (Hall 2, Booth E26-27). The Ovation MCU 2000 is a third-generation (3G) wireless HSDPA stand-alone desktop device that unifies currently deployed Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) networks with 802.11b/g Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) for residential and small office users.
During the exhibition, Novatel Wireless will demonstrate Ovation's patent-pending security technology, OnePush(TM). This advanced feature protects network computers from hackers and provides a simple, secure means to add additional computers. The console includes a zero configuration print server, enabling access to a network printer from any computer on the WLAN.
Visitors to Novatel Wireless' booth will also be able to view a presentation of Ovation's advanced multimedia streaming capabilities.
"With the preview of our second-generation product from the Ovation Family of 3G Multimedia Application Consoles during 3GSM, we are demonstrating how carriers can now offer a practical and cost-effective wireless device for their customers," said Peter Leparulo, chief executive officer for Novatel Wireless. "As demand for mobile solutions increases, Novatel Wireless continues to deploy cutting-edge and innovative technology for home and small enterprise users."
The console features Novatel Wireless' EU740 embedded module, which can reach speeds up to 1.8Mbps (Megabits per second). The Ovation MCU 2000 is backward compatible with currently deployed wireless data network technologies worldwide, including Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), Enhanced Data for Global Evolution (EDGE) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS).
