SAN DIEGO, Nov 23, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Wireless technology industry leaders from around the globe will gather in San Diego Nov. 30 - Dec. 3, 2009 for the quarterly PTCRB meeting, hosted by Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions. Over the course of four days, representatives from carriers, test labs, integrators and manufacturers will discuss requirements for new technologies that utilize GSM cellular networks.
The PTCRB meets to review certification requirements for authorized third-party test labs based on standards, as well as the needs of the operators. The PTCRB standards are continuously evolving as technology developments are made and the number of devices being certified grows exponentially from year to year. The explosion of wireless broadband solutions is one of the main contributors, as more diverse types of devices are connecting to carrier networks each year.
"As an industry leader in wireless broadband solutions, the decisions made at these meetings have an impact on how we develop our products," said Peter Leparulo, chairman and CEO of Novatel Wireless. "Our hosting of this event underscores Novatel's commitment to represent the manufacturer's point of view, while guaranteeing we stay up to date on the latest standards."
PTCRB aims to protect the networks from being overtaxed from devices that operate improperly by analyzing such things as antenna characteristics, radio performance and network protocol. The goals are to maintain network performance for optimal customer satisfaction, which should minimize dropped calls, maximize coverage and maintain network user safety.
