SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of intelligent wireless networking solutions, today announced that in collaboration with Net Irrigate and Mesh Systems, it has been selected as a value chain award winner in the Agriculture and Consumer Packaged Goods categories of the 2013 Connected World Value Chain Awards, highlighting Novatel Wireless' M2M solutions.
Leveraging Novatel Wireless' integrated M2M products, Net Irrigate, a manufacturer of Wireless Agricultural Irrigation Monitoring (WAIM) technology, created an M2M solution that enables farmers to minimize operational costs by eliminating the need for onsite monitoring and control of irrigation equipment. Receiving a new level of security and tracking for irrigation systems, farmers indicate a return on initial investment usually occurs within the first few months of operation.
For the gold award in the Consumer Packaged Goods category, Novatel Wireless provides its Enabler HS 3001 CDMA module to Mesh Systems' gateway, which is a part of an interactive trade system from Anheuser Busch Inbev. The solution leverages cloud technologies to provide retailers with a POS (point-of-sale) system within each retail account that will activate based on sporting events, weather conditions, or current events. A cellular gateway even allows text notifications to be sent directly to consumers' phones.
The Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and the solution providers that made their success possible. The awards recognize the process of combining multiple technologies such as device-connectivity hardware, radio modules, network service and provisioning, as well as application software and infrastructure, to create a winning solution for the end customer.
"Recognition in Connected World's Value Chain awards highlights Novatel Wireless' transformational contributions to the M2M market, benefiting all types of organizations looking for innovative ways to grow," said Joe Peterson, VP of Worldwide Sales for Novatel Wireless. "We're excited about our collaboration with Net Irrigate and Mesh Systems and committed to offering the most advanced M2M solutions in the market."
