SAN DIEGO, Sep 18, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Novatel Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq:NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced that it has won a Supporting Partner award at the 2006 3G A-List Awards. Novatel Wireless was recognized as part of the 3G A-List Award received by Cox Communications in the "Large Company" category for effectively upgrading its wireless communications platform to positively impact costs and productivity. Novatel Wireless' PC cards were an integral component in the success of wireless solutions utilized by Cox. The QUALCOMM-sponsored award program is designed to recognize innovative enterprise wireless data solutions based on third-generation (3G) CDMA standards.
"We congratulate Cox Communications on winning this prestigious award and we are honored to partner with them," said Peter Leparulo, chief executive officer of Novatel Wireless. "Our mission is to provide innovative products and services to our customers to increase productivity and wireless connectivity. As a result, customers like Cox Communications are able to focus on their core business efforts."
Cox used Novatel Wireless' Merlin S620 and V620 mobile broadband PC cards to upgrade its laptop communications platform. These PC cards running EV-DO (Evolution-Data Only) provided Cox with higher bandwidth and increased connectivity speed for wireless data, allowing technicians swift access to information and communications. As a result, Cox saved millions of dollars by optimizing its work order management system. Productivity increased by 10 percent, repair time was reduced and Cox customer satisfaction also increased. In addition, Cox expects to save approximately $500,000 in maintenance and support costs on an annual basis.
"Deploying the latest technologies can be a challenge as 3G solutions continue to evolve," said Kristin Taylor, senior director of enterprise business development for QUALCOMM. "Partnerships such as the one Novatel Wireless has established with Cox allow for companies to effectively deploy these technologies with the help of these trusted experts in the field."
The annual 3G A-List Awards honor outstanding wireless implementations that demonstrate creativity and innovation, overall business impact and how the winning company or organization exceeded business objectives by introducing higher return on investment, lower operating expenses or increased user satisfaction.
