Inseego cloud-managed fixed wireless solutions keep suburban school district securely connected 24x7 over CBRS and LTE. Future-proof for 5G rollover when a network becomes available in the available.
Like other forward-looking school districts across the United States, Murray City Schools District is using Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum to create a private LTE network for its schools. Jason Eyre, technology coordinator for the Murray City School District, found most connectivity solutions that support CBRS can’t maintain the speed and performance teachers and students need — especially in areas with low signal coverage.
Eyre needed connectivity solutions that could dependably deliver high speeds and strong performance over the private LTE network today, and support the District’s evolution to 5G.
Eyre started with Inseego hotspots, upgrading to the 5G MiFi® M2000 Hotspots over time. These portable and powerful hotspots reliably deliver high speeds and can withstand the rigors of constantly being moved around — a requirement that proved fatal for hotspots with exterior antennas.
In classrooms, Eyre is using Inseego Wavemaker 5G indoor cellular router FX2000 series devices to deliver secure, high-performance fixed wireless access connectivity for up to 30 devices. Outdoors, the Inseego Wavemaker 5G outdoor CPE FW2010 provides ultra-fast, low-latency millimeter wave (mmWave) connectivity to extend network coverage.
The cloud-based Inseego Connect platform lets Eyre remotely monitor where and how the Inseego devices are being used and allow easy reconfiguration.
As Eyre upgrades Inseego hotspots, he’s able to repurpose the previous models within the school community to maximize the technology investment. He’s most excited about the speed and performance Inseego’s fixed wireless access solutions deliver. Eyre says a neighboring school district reached 50 Mb/s download speeds across 11.1 miles (18 km) through the Inseego 5G FW2010.
The ability to achieve these kinds of speeds over distance has huge potential to increase digital equality between students in rural and urban areas. The results mean Eyre is confident Inseego is the right partner to help Murray City School District leverage private 5G over CBRS.
“I don’t know what the magic inside the Inseego RF engine is, but the Inseego products deliver higher speeds and better throughput on just one bar of connectivity than any competing solution we’ve seen.”
